Swedish massage
is a universal choice. Five classical movements on the superficial
layers of muscles move the blood though the soft tissues. They are
soft gliding strokes, kneading, deep, circular movements, vibration
and rhythmic percussive movement.
Aromatherapy massage
is Swedish massage using essential oils to enhance healing,
relaxation and emotional and hormonal balance by the power of its
scent or by being applied directly to and massaged into the skin.
Chair massage
is form of Swedish massage. A specially designed folding chair
allows you to sit fully supported, from knees to head and neck. The
therapist can massage the client’s head, neck, shoulders, back and
arms while you are still fully dressed.
Connective tissue
massage, also called myofascial release also medical massage, seeks to rebalance the body
by releasing tension in the fascia, the superficial and mid-level
connective tissue of the muscles. Pressure is applied with the
intention of opening, lengthening and moisturizing these layers of
fascia, giving the body more freedom and range of motion. Long,
stretching strokes are used to release muscular tension.
Deep tissue massage
incorporates Swedish massage techniques on specific problem areas to
release chronic or acute tension and soreness. “Deep tissue is
really Swedish massage performed with more pressure.
Deep tissue movements are often
cross-fiber (across the grain of the muscle) using fingers, thumbs,
or elbows with more pressure to reach deeper layers of the specific
muscles involved. This deep work on the muscles and connective
tissues loosens toxins and increases the blood and oxygen
circulation enhancing the body’s abilities to heal.
Targeted massage
is similar to deep tissue massage but uses many other additional
techniques to relieve tension, eliminate toxins, rebalance the
energy and bring nutrition and oxygen to a specific area.
Thai Lazy man's Yoga
Trager massage,
also known as psychological integration, is based on the theory that
most physical problems start in the mind. Physical and verbal
communication and movements such as shaking, rocking, vibrating and
gentle kneading are used to contact the subconscious and communicate
with the muscles to bring them into a healthful state.

also called myofascial release, seeks to rebalance the body by

Reflexology
is an ancient healing are that teaches that pressure in specific
areas of the hands, feet and ears can reflect energy into a related
area elsewhere in the body. The vertical meridians mentioned are
also represented in these areas, allowing pressure of specific
points to reflex healing energy to coordinate organs of the body
within the same zone.
Reiki,
the Japanese word or “universal life force energy,” is an ancient
healing art where the therapist becomes a conduit for the healing
energy coming from the universe. It is a subtle form of massage
that can be performed through clothing and without physical contact
with the client. The therapist holds, his or her hands a few inches
or farther away from your body and manipulates the energy field from
there.
The refocused energy has several basic effects; it brings about deep
relaxation, destroys energy blockages, detoxifies the system and
provides new vitality in the form of healing.
Craniofacial massage
is a technique for finding and correcting cerebral and spinal
imbalances or blockages that may cause sensory, motor or
intellectual dysfunction. It is a modality that focuses on the
functioning of the craniofacial system that surrounds and protects
the brain and spinal cord by complementing the body’s natural
healing processes through gentle, hands-on touch.
Polarity massage
is a technique of gently rocking, holding and massaging to stimulate
relaxation, restore energy flow and encourage revitalization.
Sports massage
is geared toward participants in athletics and has these three basic
forms: pre-event massage, and maintenance massage. It is used to
help prevent injuries and prepare the body for athletic activity
(pre-event), to maintain it in optimal condition during an event
(maintenance), and to help athletes recover from workouts and
injuries (post-event).
Shirohara
is an Ayurvedic treatment of warmed oil slowly pouring over the
middle of the client’s forehead, where it is believed the third eye
resides. This induces an intense state of relaxation in the
recipient.
Stone massage
uses Swedish massage strokes, usually effleurage, with warm and cold
basalt stones, marble, and semi-precious stones. Using stones in a
massage therapy is a holistic approach to triggering healing
response and relaxation. “The heat of the stones transmits intense
heat and energy, much more that can be transmitted by the hands
alone. This stimulates the transmission of endorphins, the hormonal
painkiller and anti-depressants, which our bodies produce naturally
and safely, into the body.
One stroke of the stone is equal to six effleurage movements,
reaching deeper into the muscle tissue and producing a profound
relaxation and alternating sedation and rejuvenation.
Raindrop massage
is a special application of 9 essential oils designed to balance and
align the body. These oils are dropped on the body from a distance
onto the spine (thus comes the name raindrop) then they are lightly
manipulated to relax the area, therefore realigning the spine in a
very light and gentle way.

SKIN
CARE
We can all have an impact on what our
skin looks like. Beautiful skin is a life-long commitment. As the
body’s protective covering, the skin is vulnerable and subject to
wear and tear. This is why the skin requires regular and daily care
throughout a lifetime if it is to remain healthy and retain its
youthful appearance. The environmental factors that rob the skin of
its beauty are sunlight, which depletes water and causes permanent
loss of moisture. It also damages collagen fibers, which gives our
skin support and elasticity. Sun also disturbs cellular activity,
which interferes with the production of collagen. Pollution is
deteriorating the ozone allowing more ultra-violet ray exposure when
polluted air comes in contact with the skin, leaving the skin
dehydrated, sensitive and less resilient.
We must
also contend with biological changes in our body. As time ticks
away the years, the skin begins to loose ability to retain water
therefore leaving skin vulnerable to dehydration. Cell regeneration
slows down and causes a build-up of dead cells and a decrease in
collagen production.
Although we have no control over
biological factors, how we choose to conduct our lives can make a
difference in the final analysis of our skin’s condition. Smoking,
drinking, sunbathing, drugs, diet and lack of care are the last true
enemies of our skin
Nicotine causes small blood vessels and
capillaries to constrict, which decreases the blood circulation to
the skin and deprives it of essential nutrients and oxygen. Alcohol
damages the liver and interferes with nutrition. Alcohol over
dilates the blood vessels and weakens the capillary walls, which can
cause them to burst. It also draws water out of the tissue and
causes dehydration. Drugs can affect and intake of oxygen that the
tissues need for cell growth.
Washing the face cannot be as simple as
soap and water. Soaps have high alkaline substances that leave the
skin dehydrated. Preservatives leave skin sensitive and irritated.
Plastic surgeons in conjunction with
skin care specialists allow individuals a second chance to recapture
beautiful skin. Skin needs are not limited to facial reconstruction,
however. To insure a complete facial or skin rejuvenation process
you must improve the health of the skin.
Skin treatments help to overcome
deficiencies and improve circulation. In addition, cell
regeneration is activated, moisture loss restored, and the skin’s
resiliency is enhanced. Facial therapy is administered so blood and
fluids trapped within tissue can drain and recalculate. Essential
vitamins and minerals and amino acids are replenished.
Preventing the destruction of skin is
our best defense against the aging process.

Permanent makeup
by Mary Morris
Permanent makeup has become an excellent option for our clients with
certain skin imperfections, loss of skin pigmentation, thinning
eyebrows, thinning lips, and for those who have allergies to
conventional makeup. Permanent makeup allows you to escape the daily
application required with traditional makeup techniques.
Unlike traditional makeup, permanent makeup will not smear, smudge,
or run during your daily activities.
Permanent makeup may be applied to any part of the body and to all
age groups. Uses include enhancing the eyebrows, altering or
enhancing the color of the lips, and adding or augmenting beauty
marks. Permanent makeup is also used as permanent eyeliner and
lipliner. These techniques allow us to enhance your natural
beauty and give you a more youthful, rejuvenated appearance.
Eyebrows
Permanent makeup applied in the region of the brow mimics the
natural hair of the brow. This can provide an appearance of
fullness for anyone who has lost some of the eyebrow hair.
Unlike an eyebrow pencil, you are able to go about your normal daily
activities without worrying if you will accidentally smear or smudge
your brow.
Eyeliner
The application of pigment to lash line can give the appearance of a
definite line or a more subtle shadow in the lashes. This procedure
can be liberating for those with an allergy to traditional eyeliner
or for those with contact lenses that become irritated with over the
counter makeup products.
Eyelash Enhancement
Permanent makeup is precisely placed in between each lash at the
base of the lash line. This defines the shape of the eye and
creates the illusion of thick full lashes.
Lipliner/Lip Color Enhancement
Not only can the color of the lips be improved, but the lip shape
can also be improved, giving you the appearance of more full,
sensual lips. This technique can also camouflage those fine
lines that begin to appear around the mouth with age and eliminate
the appearance of lipstick bleeding onto bordering skin.
Beauty Marks
An absolutely natural beauty mark may be placed wherever you desire.
Size, shape, and color are all chosen by you to create the look you
desire.
Is the procedure painful?
There is very little discomfort because area is numbed with a
topical anesthetic.
How can I be assured I will like the end results?
You have approval of EVERYTHING! As colors are mixed and brows
designed, you are consulted for approval. You are given a hand
mirror and during each step of the way you and I will work together
as a team to create the natural youthful look you desire.
How long is recovery period?
There is a mild swelling and redness accompanying the procedure, but
most patients are able to return to work or other social activities
the same day.
How long will it be until I see my final results?
It takes a period of three to six weeks for the pigment to become
permanently incorporated in the desired location. At this
point your final results have been achieved.
Will my permanent makeup fade?
During the initial healing period of three to six weeks, there will
be a slight fading of pigment as some of it is removed by your body.
To counteract this natural response, a slightly greater amount of
pigment than you actually need to achieve your desired results will
be placed at the time of your procedure.
Over a period of a few years brows and lips may fade and you may
need a touch up.
Prices listed include a
second session, which is normally necessary for finishing and
perfecting. A third session may be needed for brows where there is
no apparent hair or if you choose a very light color. Full lip color
may require a third session if a strong vibrant color desired, and
an additional charge will apply.
I use a topical anesthetic
especially formulated for permanent makeup application. Discomfort
during a procedure using this topical is very minimal.
WE FOLLOW ALL GUIDELINES

You are not alone!
Many men and women
think they are the only one with a hair problem,
while in fact 90% of all men and women have at least
a few unwanted hairs. Electrolysis is the only
permanent method of hair removal approved by
physicians and health professionals as safe,
effective and permanent. Since its discovery in 1875
by Dr. Charles E. Michel, many major advances have
been made through the use of highly sophisticated
technology and professional skill.
We
all get tired of unwanted hair. We pluck, tweeze,
wax, trim, bleach, and use depilatories but it
always comes back or becomes dark again. Electrology
has withstood the test of time for its Safety,
Effectiveness, and Permanency for most Men and Women
of all Nationalities |
|
WHAT IS IT?
|
Excess hair or unwanted hair may be
caused by a variety of reasons. The majority of the
causes of excess hair, however, fall into a category
called “organic hirsutism”. This is the functioning
of the various organs of the body, especially the
glands. Other causes of hirsutism (the abnormal
abundance of hair growth) are stress, medication,
irritation, pregnancy, surgery, and possibly diet.
DOES IT HURT?
Most people do not find electrolysis
painful but there is a sensation of a pinprick.
Some areas are more sensitive than others.
Generally, what is felt will not be any more painful
than if you removed the hairs with a pair of
tweezers. There are times when patients have fallen
asleep during treatment.
IS IT REALLY PERMANENT?
Electrolysis is the only permanent,
safe method of removing hair. When the hair papilla
and follicle have been treated properly and
effectively, that hair will be gone forever.
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE?
This
is considered the most difficult question to
answer. Hair grows in 3 distinct phases; anagen,
catagen and telegen. Anagen is when the hair is
active and growing; catagen is when the hair stops
growing and begins a resting phase and telegen, a
shedding stage, is when the hair becomes dormant and
not growing for a time. So it does take time to
effectively treat each hair that is currently above
the skin, and those not yet showing themselves.
Next, skin type and location of hair must be
considered. If you have thin, sensitive skin,
electrolysis treatments must be done at a slower
rate. Finally, regularity of treatments will save
you money in the long run due to shorter overall
time needed to remove all hair visible and those not
yet visible. Even though it is difficult to give a
definite time frame, you should see a definite
reduction in amount of hair after each treatment.
HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?
Rates for electrolysis vary, a
national average would be between $15 and $60 per
treatment. When considering cost, take into
consideration the cost in dollars and time you will
spend on temporary methods which will continue
forever. Now when looking at electrolysis, consider
you are taking a permanent step towards removing
this unwanted hair forever. The advantage is
obviously electrolysis. |
